The God Who Wasn’t There
The God Who Wasn’t There is a documentary by Brian Flemming designed to expose the misconceptions regarding historic evidence for Jesus Christ. It’s a shame that mainstream media doesn’t present the truth . . . so we’re left with small independent efforts to spread the truth that never reach the eyes of the mainstream public.
I’ve tried to educate myself as much as possible about religion, and I’ve always wondered why I never saw a Science Channel documentary delve into even the most basic facts that cast doubt on the existence of Jesus.
I’ve never seen any show point out any of the following:
- Not a single piece of hard historical evidence supporting the existence of Jesus exists. There are no artifacts, works of carpentry, self-written manuscripts . . . nothing.
- There is not a single writing from the time Jesus supposedly lived that makes a reference to his name. There is no record, even, to show that Pontius Pilate executed a man named Jesus. Did no one consider Jesus relevant enough to mention his name in their writings and records?
- Not a single word in the bible was written by anyone alive during the time Christ supposedly walked the earth.
- Writings of the early church reveal that they were likely unaware of a living Jesus. Jesus as a real man didn’t come until later.
- The life of Christ – from the immaculate birth all the way to the resurrection – precisely mirrors that of many other messiahs and heroes that came before him. Most especially Osiris-Horus. Osiris-Horus was both the father and the son (as in the Holy Trinity). He was born to a virgin named Neith – usually referred to as beloved, which is Mery in Egyption. Horus even died and was resurrected.
- If there were answers to these problems, Christians would be willing to talk about them.
Unfortunately, you won’t learn even this much from watching the documentary. It’s like elementary school for atheists. Very basic. But if you’re looking for a starting point, it may be what you’re looking for.
